Dan Stec Copies Another Politician’s Personal Story Nearly Word-For-Word And Passes It Off As His Own
Assembly candidate Dennis Tarantino today criticized his opponent, Dan Stec, for copying almost word-for-word the story on a 2010 mailer sent out by Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush that outlined Blankenbush’s inspiration for seeking public office. (Files To Follow.)
“Copying such a very personal story is disturbing,” said Tarantino. “Being a good Assemblyman is about more than issues, party labels and records – it’s about independence and credibility. When you can’t even count on a candidate telling his own story about why he’s running, then you can’t count on him to vote against raising taxes or his own salary. Copying Ken Blankenbush’s old mailer shows Dan Stec is a predictable career politician, trying to pass off another person’s work as his own.”
Stec’s mailer uses the headline, “The biggest reason Dan Stec wants to be your next Assemblyman is inside his wallet” and copies a story from Blankenbush’s 2010 mailer along with an images of pictures in the same wallet. In that mailer Blankenbush stated his deep concern about his grandchildren’s future motivated him to run for office. Stec’s mailer copied that message, only substituting his children.
“How hard is it to tell your own personal story?” Tarantino said. “He’s a good parent and I’m a good parent. But you will always be able to trust me to do what’s right and honest.”
Dennis Tarantino is running on a platform of reducing the tax burden, bringing more good-paying jobs to the area and improving the quality of life for North Country families.
